President Abdul Kalam – The Visionary Missile Man of India
In memory of our beloved late president APJ Abdul Kalam, let us take a pledge improve India and raise our nation to the level of a Super Power in the world. Just like it was envisioned by Abdul Kalam in his book India 2020 where he impresses upon the youth of India to work as a team and make India a developed nation by the year 2020.
Born on October 15, 1931 to a poor family in Rameswaram, Tamilnadu, Abdul Kalam started from very modest beginnings. Against all odds, he studied very hard and earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. He eventually became Secretary of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Director of SLV program of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), ultimately becoming Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister of India. He was elected as the 11th President of India in 2002.
As the President of India, he became immensely popular across India, especially with the youth and students.
Abdul Kalam’s vision for a developed India by 2020 included:
Technological innovation and self-reliance
Health Care and Education for All
Infrastructure accessible across India
Agriculture and food processing to sustain India
We have created this page to further the goals of Abdul Kalam. Please join us in this noble mission to make India a Super Power.
What are the main impediments to India becoming a Super Power?
Why have we not improved much even after almost 70 years of Independence?
What are the social, political and cultural issues we face daily that are road blocks in our progress?
How can we improve the future of our children and youth of India?
Let us discuss, let us contribute and raise the awareness. Let us build a network of people who care for India.
